This desoldering braided tape (also known as desoldering braid or solder wick) is a handy solder removal tool made of finely woven copper strands designed for efficient cleanup of excess solder. When heated with a soldering iron, the braid uses capillary action to draw molten solder away from joints and pads, preparing the surface for rework or component replacement.
How It Works:
Place the braid over the solder you want to remove. When heated together with the soldering iron, the molten solder is drawn up into the braid’s copper strands, leaving the joint clean. After use, the saturated section of braid is cut off and a fresh segment is used.
